Grace -- less Living ... The way of the UnAttractive World
You've heard it said, "You get what you give". It's the real world out there and the philosophy of the day is that what you get, you get on your own merits. It's the old law of karma. Bad cause equals bad effect. Good cause equals good effect. You get what you deserve.
Rejection, giving up, not trying are the lessons learned by living in the graceless world.
However.....
Grace travels outside karma. Grace is undeserved favor. It displays itself by:
» Having a grateful heart - God doesn't owe you anything. You can't merit God's favor. (If you and the Olympic long jump champion Carl Lewis tried to jump the Grand Canyon, probably Carl would outdistance you a bit. But that would be an incremental difference considering the distance the chasm posed. Compared to God's standard we all fall exceedingly short.) But God extends his favor or grace to us, if we are one of the chosen.
» Stop comparing yourself - When you compare yourself to others, you start coveting (desiring what they are or have), which leads to bitterness, ingratitude and inner grumbling. A snake pit of misgivings arises when you begin to envy others' blessings. You'll think yourself more deserving because of what you said or did. Live up to the unique person God made you to be.
» Extend grace to others - Acts of kindness, spontaneous giving and thoughtfulness transform our unattractiveness.
The single greatest act of Grace ever given was Christmas.
If you are on the Creators list you'll never be the same again.
